This client had a pretty open front yard - no real barrier between the home and the street. For a lot of homeowners in West Lake Hills, that's just part of the deal. But when you want to actually use your front space without feeling exposed, something has to change.

We designed and built a full privacy solution that included a double gate, flanking fence panels, and matching side privacy panels. The framework is welded steel, and the infill is a woven copper panel pattern that gives the whole setup a distinct, modern look. It's not your standard wood fence. The copper weave adds texture and visual interest while still doing the actual job of blocking sightlines.

What we wanted to avoid was that common mistake where a privacy fence feels like a wall someone slapped up overnight. The steel frame keeps everything tight and structural, while the copper panels tie into the warm tones of the home's exterior. The woven pattern also allows for just enough airflow so it doesn't feel like a solid barrier when you're standing behind it. Details like that matter.

Matching the gate panels to the side privacy panels was intentional. We continued the same woven copper look along the fence run so the whole front reads as one cohesive design - not a mix of random materials. Combined with the large concrete stepping stones and gravel beds already on site, the finished front yard has a clean, put-together feel that actually fits the style of the home.

Projects like this come down to getting the details right from the start. The steel framework had to be perfectly level and plumb before a single copper panel went on. That's the kind of groundwork that doesn't photograph well but makes everything else hold up - literally. West Lake Hills homeowners who want both function and a strong curb presence tend to appreciate that kind of thinking.
